Texas Summer Life

We've been here now for almost 4 weeks. We are enjoying the swimming pools and air conditioned stores. :) Right now that is all we can do, besides stay home...it is much too hot. It is over 100 degrees everyday. Hopefully that will change soon. I've been told it won't happen until October! Yikes! But it is nice to see sun everyday. :)

On the plane flying to TX.

The girls love to play at this splash park. It is in the middle of a mall and right next to a yummy ice cream place!

We set up the kiddy pool in the shade outside. It was a hit for the first few days, but then got too hot. We will try again in a month or so.

We were planning on getting a big swimming pool, but after talking to some locals, decided against it for now. The above the ground pools just get too hot too fast...and who wants to sit in a hot pool in 100 degree weather? So hopefully the next house we move to will have a pool already there.

We went to the fountains (that is what we call the splash park) one hot night, only to find that they were doing a concert instead. We decided to stay and watch and dance. The girls even got to help out. They had a blast.

Painting in the back yard. Notice all that dead grass?

We made a trip into Austin and went to the capitol building. It is gorgeous and HUGE.

Another splash park. We drove way too far to get there. But the girls did have fun.

Natalie lets me do pig tails now! Yeah! (And yes, she did let me, even though she was giving me that grumpy face...she just doesn't like to have her picture taken).

Snacks on the front porch.

We've played some hide and seek, too.

Playing "mommy" outside. It is way too hot outside for me! But the girls like to get out sometimes. They don't usually last very long....about 15 minutes or so. Then they need popsicles to cool them off. :)

We did go to the park last Friday! It was an overcast day and didn't feel quite so hot. The toys are shaded from the sun, so they don't get hot from the direct sun. We stayed about 20 minutes. We were all sweating and ready to go home for some cold water!

We do this a lot. We snuggle and watch movies. Didn't we just get done doing that through the winter and cold, cold spring?

Honestly, we have gone to a swimming pool 3-4 times a week. So we are getting out. And as long as we are sunscreened up and in the pool, we are having fun and staying cool. Makenna is really good at swimming now and Natalie is much more comfortable in the water. We all (well maybe not Richard...someone has to be responsible and work!) have great tans. And the girls are getting more blonde everyday.
