On Saturday, despite the rain and cold (when has that ever stopped us?! we are from the great NW.) we headed over to the Austin Rodeo.
It's a pretty big deal here and happens every year over spring break.
Tickets to the actual rodeo were way too much for our family, so we did the fair part. It was nice that it was raining because 1. not many people were there (I hate crazy crowded places with my kids), 2. all the carnival rides were shut down, (they thought they would break or something from the rain...haha) so we didn't have to be the mean mom and dad saying no to our kids with every ride we walked by and 3. we got better deals since not may people were there.
We watched our first mutton busting. It was pretty entertaining. Richard is convinced we need to sign Makenna up for it next year. She isn't so excited about that idea though.
Kenna went ziplining. She loved it.
There was a petting zoo with lots of cute animals. Natalie wanted nothing to do with them...so she and I stayed out.
Makenna LOVED it. This was a sweet little dear.
This llama frightened her. There was a little black goat that kept trying to eat her coat. She thought it was funny, but also didn't like it at all.
And what would an Austin fair be if it didn't have free live music? This band was good and we had fun dancing for a while. They are the brian burke band...you should check them out.
The girls got some cute cowboy hats.
They got to take a pony ride too! We were surprised that Natalie agreed to do it, but she did, as long as Richard was holding onto her. He let go once or twice and she let him have it. But she was all smiles the rest of the time. Both girls were saying "Yeehaw!" and "Giddyup!"
It's going on all week...we may just find ourselves over there again.
